A joyful tribe lives at the Oasis to take care of this little paradise.
To understand our story, we have to rewind a little. We are Matthieu and Camille, together with our tribe: Manoé, Naéla, Mia, and not forgetting our four-legged friends Elia, Choupatchou, Najma, Caline and Peluche! It all began in 2015. We found this little gem and settled in over time. But to build a solid dream, sometimes you have to go and see what is out there first.
So before that, we set off for Europe to live immersed in an eco-village. An intense, inspiring experience that transformed us deeply. When we came back to the Rock (“le Caillou”, as New Caledonia is affectionately known), it was obvious: we were more motivated than ever to bring our own eco-place to life. Deep down, a clear and vibrant vision carried us: another way of living, deeply respectful of all living things, was possible. That guiding thread gave us the strength to get through every storm and every doubt. Because let’s be honest… aiming for autonomy in every sense of the word in daily life, and looking after a place like this, is sometimes quite a challenge!
Our beginnings? We first lived in a tent, lulled by the sounds of nature, while waiting to set up our yurt. What an adventure! Carrying water drums every day from our friends’ homes, becoming aware of every single drop we use, lighting our evenings with candles… needless to say, the day we got running water and electricity back, we celebrated it as it deserved. This experience allowed us to pass on an essential lesson to our children: to realise the priceless value of all those little everyday things we too often take for granted.
It was only two years later that the Oasis des Possibles was born, with the immense joy of opening our doors and welcoming the public. For all these years, we have been pampering this little corner of paradise. We test, we clear, we make mistakes, we learn and, above all, we celebrate every small victory! We are proud of the path travelled, of seeing what has become of this vast meadow where a herd of cows once grazed. A little more motivated every day, we contemplate, we sow, we plant, we harvest, and we transform what nature offers us with gratitude. This place is our beating heart. And what we love most of all is opening our doors to you, sharing a bit of our daily life and talking about our life choices. Welcome to our home, at the Oasis des Possibles!

Life on the farm
Our daily life
Life on the farm is a great human and earthly adventure. It is the patient work of sowing, weeding, mulching, processing and hand-pollinating the vanilla, crowned by the joy of enjoying our harvests.
It is also taking care of the land: opening new paths, embellishing the structures, trimming the vegetation and giving the farm all the attention it deserves so that it can keep growing.
And staying in touch with you, sharing our news, preparing your arrival with care, cooking our produce and sharing wonderful moments of conviviality with you!
Wildlife & the tribe
More than twenty bird species have been identified: you will probably spot a notou (Pacific imperial pigeon) or a barn owl late in the afternoon. The flying foxes come out at nightfall!
Wild pigs and deer can sometimes be glimpsed.
Elia, the guardian dog, and the 4 cats Caline, Najma, Choupatchou and Peluche keep us company and follow us on our adventures! The hen team gives us (occasionally!!) delicious eggs and enjoys what it finds at the edge of the forest.
Essential players in our ecosystem, our bees take an active part in pollination. We never tire of admiring them, fluttering and foraging happily from flower to flower.
Towards autonomy
- Food: we diversify our plantings to move closer to food autonomy. To date, more than 520 fruit trees are growing.
- Crops: the experimental mounds let us try different methods (permaculture, syntropic farming, companion planting, mandala gardens…) to be ever closer to nature and respectful of all living things.
- Bees: we love watching them pollinate and we practise respectful beekeeping.
- Energy and water: the sun provides all the electricity we need, we have compost toilets, and the mounds are watered with water from the creek thanks to a solar pump.
A welcome on the farm
Experience the authenticity of a permaculture space: discover how we grow, learn to recognise plants, taste the garden herbal teas, set off on a sensory escape or a hike, and share a meal from the field during your visit.
We are convinced that alternatives exist, more respectful of nature and of people. One-day workshops, retreats, evenings and multi-day courses are offered throughout the year at the Faré du bonheur (the “Hut of Happiness”), on themes that are close to our hearts and linked to our overall permaculture project. This place is friendly, a place of sharing and of passing on knowledge, and it listens.
You can now set off on an adventure at your own pace, on your own, with various playful trails through the Oasis, or enjoy our guided tours!
We also support groups, works councils, associations and companies in creating tailor-made events.
And finally, big news: children can now celebrate their birthday at the Oasis! Several themes, guided by our values of sharing and conviviality, are on offer.
We choose trust and love. The only limits we have are the ones we set ourselves: the field of possibilities is open before us ;-)
Looking forward to welcoming you!
